Net worth....exposed!

In a conversation with a friend recently, the night before the elections, she asked, “Doesn’t the Word say that gross darkness shall cover the earth?” As soon as the words came out of her mouth…I saw a pay check with a gross amount & a net amount. Anyone who gets a paycheck knows that the gross amount is what you receive before any deductions.

Now, I know that the word “gross”, as referred to in Isaiah 60:2 has nothing to do with a paycheck…or does it? Take a look…

Isaiah 60:1 & 21
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

As I was reading here, of course I see that there are two darkness that are spoken of…
a darkness that covers the earth and a gross darkness the people. It disturbs me that the “gross” darkness is upon the people. The full amount…to the greatest extent…upon the people!

The darkness that is first referred to here is what is referred to in Matthew 15:14 "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." It is a blinding, deceiving darkness…a seemingly massive darkness that looms over our government and even covers eyes of the people BUT just as the government taxes us in this world, it’s time for the Kingdom of God to tax the government of darkness! The world needs to see the net worth of the darkness and it ain't worth much, believe me! And it's definitely not going to pay out the way the people expect it to!

Acts 26:18
But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.

It’s time for the church, to get up and stand upon our feet! He has appeared to us and has appointed us to be a minister and a witness of light to the darkness. To make massive deductions from the darkness and to tax it, opening eyes so that they may see and turn from the darkness to the light and from the dominion of Satan to God and into their inheritance…to shine!

I love your definition of darkness. You're right, there are two distinctions of darkness that I never noticed before in that passage...
